Do I need to buy a tablet?
No. Any tablet with a modern web browser works, including that old one in the drawer. There's nothing to install, and you can remove the tablet from your phone anytime.
Can Campfire change my Google Calendar?
No. It only reads the calendars you choose. It can't add, edit, move or delete events. If you disconnect, Campfire stops syncing right away; to remove its access completely, also remove it from your Google account's security page.
Does it know where we live?
No. You type a town or ZIP code once for the weather. There's no GPS, no location prompt and no street address, and the tablet only ever sees the town's name.
Could a guest read our messages on it?
No. The tablet has no way to show a message at all, and nobody signs in on it. Messages live on phones only.
Is a kid's PIN on the wall secure?
It's a courtesy, not a lock. A PIN typed on a kitchen wall can be watched, so think of it as keeping a sibling from peeking. It closes on its own after a few minutes, and nothing with a number on it ever shows on the shared screen.
Is there a week or month view?
No, on purpose. The wall shows today plus up to seven days, big enough to read from across the room.
Can it dim the screen at night?
It can't control your tablet's brightness, but quiet hours turn the screen almost completely black with just a clock. You choose the hours.
